James Cameron has sent an official letter to cinemas with technical instructions for screening Avatar 3: Fire and Ash. This is not just standard guidance but a detailed protocol designed by the director to ensure audiences experience the film as precisely and meticulously as intended in the theater.

The letter was distributed simultaneously with the delivery of the Digital Cinema Package (DCP) for the film's release. Cameron specifically emphasized that proper equipment preparation directly impacts the final viewing experience.

Technical Requirements for the Screening

In his address, the director stated that along with the film, cinemas received a file with technical specifications and a framing chart. These materials detail image brightness parameters, sound setup requirements, framing specifics, and other key aspects of the screening.

Cameron strongly recommended that cinema technical teams carefully study the documentation and ensure that the image and sound systems are correctly calibrated. According to him, the film was created with strictly defined playback parameters in mind, and any deviation could distort the creators' vision.

Special Focus on Sound

The director placed particular emphasis on the sound design. He mentioned that he was personally actively involved in the sound mixing, striving for a perfect balance between quiet dialogue scenes and large-scale action sequences.

According to Cameron, the film is designed for playback at a reference volume level of 7.0, and he strongly urged cinemas not to lower this setting. The director noted that it is precisely with these settings that the full sound dynamics envisioned during the film's creation are achieved.

A Varying Experience for Audiences

It is clear that not all cinemas will be able to fully implement these recommendations. Some halls may not be technically equipped for such precise calibration, and in some places, the instructions might be ignored for practical reasons. As a result, audiences in different cities, and even within the same region, may have significantly different viewing experiences.

This is why premium-format cinema halls, where adherence to technical standards is traditionally higher, remain the most preferable option for experiencing Avatar 3.
