Disney begins casting for the roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.

The studio is selecting performers for the lead roles in the live-action adaptation of Tangled.

Disney has entered an active casting phase for the lead roles in the full-length live-action version of the animated film "Tangled." The project was officially announced in December of last year and will become another live-action adaptation of a classic Disney animation.

According to sources, the first auditions and so-called "chemistry tests" involving established and promising young actors took place in London last week.

Contenders for the Role of Rapunzel

Among the actresses who auditioned for the role of the princess with magical hair are several notable names. These include Freya Skye, who debuted in the Disney film Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires (2025); Sarah Catherine Hook, known for the series The White Lotus; and Australian actress Teagan Croft, who starred in the series Titans.

Olivia-Mae Barrett, familiar to audiences from the project Invasion, also participated in the casting. Additionally, sources report that Lola Tung, star of the series The Summer I Turned Pretty, was considered for the role but might not have passed the auditions due to a scheduling conflict.

Who is Vying for the Role of Flynn Rider

For the role of Flynn Rider — the charismatic thief who becomes Rapunzel's companion — Disney has invited several young actors with musical experience. Among the candidates are Milo Manheim, star of the Zombies franchise, and Charles Gillespie, known from the series The Wilds.

Both actors have previously demonstrated vocal abilities, which is an important factor given the musical nature of the upcoming film. It is also reported that Scottish actor Gilly Jones was invited to the auditions.

Musical Film and Filming Plans

The director of the live-action version of Tangled is Michael Gracey, who previously worked on the film The Greatest Showman. Like the original 2010 animated film, the new adaptation will include large-scale musical numbers.

Disney plans to begin filming the picture in the United Kingdom in June 2026. However, sources note that the production schedule may be adjusted depending on the timing of the casting completion and the final approval of the lead actors.
