Sony executives referred to Blake Lively as a "terrorist" amidst the controversy surrounding the film "It Ends with Us."

Leaked court documents reveal the studio's hardline stance in the actress's conflict with director Justin Baldoni.

A new batch of declassified court materials related to the film It Ends with Us has surfaced online. The documents shed light on the behind-the-scenes conflicts that accompanied the production and reveal just how strained the relationships were between Blake Lively, director Justin Baldoni, and the leadership of Sony Pictures.

In addition to the previously discussed correspondence between the actress and Taylor Swift and Ben Affleck, the materials contain emails and internal communications from top studio executives, who candidly discuss the crisis surrounding the project.

Harsh Language in Sony Leadership's Correspondence

Statements made by Andrea Giannetti—Executive Vice President of Production and Senior Creative Executive at Sony Pictures—drew particular attention. In correspondence with producer Jamie Hitt, which appeared in the court documents, Giannetti used an extremely strong term against Blake Lively, calling the actress a "f***ing terrorist."

The message was sent after Lively, according to the documents, threatened to leave the project if the studio did not meet a list of 17 demands she had presented. These conditions pertained to changes in the workflow and the approach to the film's production.

Financial Pressure and Attempts to Save the Project

During the proceedings, Andrea Giannetti explained the motives behind her stance, emphasizing the scale of financial investment in the film. According to her, by the time the conflict escalated, significant funds had already been invested in the project.

"Tons of money had been spent and invested, and we had to finish the film or it would have become unreleasable," she explained, commenting on the internal discussions at the studio.

These statements demonstrate that for Sony Pictures, the key factor in the conflict was not only reputational but also strictly economic.

Lawsuits and Mutual Accusations

Recall that Blake Lively filed a lawsuit in December 2024, accusing Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment. Additionally, the actress claimed that the director and his team allegedly launched a campaign of "social manipulation" aimed at undermining and destroying her reputation.

In response, Justin Baldoni filed a countersuit, denying the allegations and presenting his own version of events on set.

The Scandal as a Reflection of Conflict with the Studio System

With the release of new documents, the legal battle has extended beyond the personal conflict between the actress and the director. The case is increasingly taking on the character of a public confrontation between a major Hollywood star and the studio system, caught between creative, legal, and financial risks.

The publication of Sony Pictures' internal correspondence has only intensified interest in the proceedings and made the behind-the-scenes side of the production of It Ends with Us a subject of widespread public discussion.
