Josh Holloway, the star of the cult series, shared a story that could have drastically changed his career in major films. According to him, he was cast in the role of Remy LeBeau, better known as Gambit, in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009).

"Gambit was originally my role. To be brutally honest, I rehearsed scenes with Hugh Jackman and I got the part," Holloway shared at a fan event. He said that after the rehearsals, he was embraced and told: "That's it, you're our guy! See you on set."

Why the Actor Lost the Role

However, the actor's joy was short-lived. By the end of that same day, Holloway received a call from the studio with unexpected news: the higher-ups had decided they needed an actor "about ten years younger." Ultimately, the part went to Taylor Kitsch.

Josh Holloway noted with mild irony that he had already prepared for the role by learning card tricks, as required for Gambit's character. The actor also wondered if Kitsch would return to the role in the future but acknowledged the chances were slim.
