Horror Film 'Scream 7' to be Released in Premium IMAX Format

Paramount has released a new trailer for the seventh installment of the cult horror franchise, 'Scream 7,' and confirmed a theatrical release in an enhanced format.

Paramount has unveiled a new trailer for the horror film 'Scream 7,' the continuation of one of the most famous slasher series in cinematic history. The presented footage once again shows Sydney Prescott confronting yet another Ghostface killer, whose actions this time directly threaten not only her but also her loved ones.

Alongside the trailer premiere, an important announcement was made regarding the film's release, distinguishing the seventh installment from all previous entries in the franchise.

A New Ghostface and a Threat to Sydney Prescott's Family

The plot of 'Scream 7' once again revolves around Sydney Prescott—the iconic "final girl" who has remained the central figure of the series for decades. In the trailer, a new killer in the Ghostface mask engages her in a deadly game, expanding the circle of potential victims.

Special attention is given to the fact that Sydney's closest people, including her daughter Tatum, are now in danger, significantly raising the emotional stakes and making the events more personal for the protagonist.

The First IMAX Film in the Series

One of the key announcements was the confirmation that 'Scream 7' will be the first film in the franchise to be released in IMAX format. For a series traditionally focused on intimate suspense and playing with genre tropes, this marks a noticeable step toward a larger-scale and visually richer spectacle.

The creators anticipate that the premium format will heighten tension and the sense of immersion, making the chase and murder scenes even more impactful for audiences.

Return of Familiar Characters

Neve Campbell returns to her iconic role as Sydney Prescott. The project also features Courteney Cox, reprising her role as journalist Gale Weathers. In the trailer, Gale declares to Sydney her intention to "rip the mask off this son of a bitch," emphasizing her resolve to once again involve herself in the investigation.

The director of the seventh installment is Kevin Williamson—the screenwriter of the original 'Scream,' as well as the second and fourth films, adding an additional connection to the franchise's roots.

Franchise Context and Release Date

Neve Campbell has appeared as Sydney Prescott in all films of the series except for 'Scream 6' (2023). At the time, the actress declined to participate in the project due to disagreements over salary, sparking widespread discussion among fans.

The premiere of 'Scream 7' is scheduled for February 27, 2026. Its release in IMAX format makes it one of the most anticipated horror releases of the early year.
