Video of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt Fight Scene Sparks Panic in Hollywood
A Photorealistic Video Created by a Chinese Neural Network Has Screenwriters Talking About the End of the Film Industry as We Know It
A video featuring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in a brutal hand-to-hand fight on a skyscraper rooftop has gone viral online. The clip was entirely generated by artificial intelligence—and its unsettling realism has sparked alarm within the professional community.
Just a few lines of text prompt were enough to produce a spectacular scene, visually indistinguishable from a Hollywood blockbuster, in a matter of minutes.
How the Viral Video Emerged
The video was created by Irish filmmaker Rory Robinson. He admitted to using a simple two-line prompt in the Seedance 2.0 neural network, developed by ByteDance—TikTok's parent company.
The result was a short but highly convincing fight scene featuring two superstars, which instantly spread across social media and industry chat groups.
'It's Over for Us': Screenwriters React
One of the first to respond publicly was screenwriter Rhett Reese, known for his work on 'Deadpool & Wolverine' and 'Zombieland.'
According to him, what he saw was a genuine shock:
'Very soon, one person will be able to sit at a computer and create a film indistinguishable from what Hollywood releases today. If a new Christopher Nolan sits down at that screen—and such people will emerge very quickly—the result will be astonishing.'
However, Reese quickly clarified that 'astonishing' doesn't imply optimism:
'I'm terrified. My friends could lose the jobs they love. I myself am at risk. What scared me was how professionally this clip looks.'
The Ironic Moment and Fear of the Future
The screenwriter also noted the paradox of the situation: for decades, Hollywood has acted as the 'gatekeeper,' keeping newcomers away from big projects. Now, in his view, young and under-resourced creators are gaining tools capable of overturning the entire system.
Reese also admitted that many screenwriters and producers are already quietly using AI for text analysis and idea development:
'The funniest part—everyone sits and watches as AI critiques what it itself has written.'
A New Level of Realism
Seedance 2.0 is considered one of the most advanced video generation models available today, demonstrating a sharp leap in the quality of synthesized movement, facial expressions, and lighting. This is precisely the main source of anxiety: the line between real footage and AI-generated content is rapidly blurring.
In Hollywood, there's growing discussion that such technologies could radically change not only film production but the very concept of authorship—and the viral 'fight' between Cruise and Pitt has become a vivid harbinger of this new reality.
