Actress Admits Filming the Sequel to the Cult Comedy Resulted in Something Like PTSD for Her

Filming for 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' wrapped up back in October 2025, and the premiere is already scheduled for 2026. However, discussion of the project has taken an unexpectedly personal and rather ironic turn—lead actress Meryl Streep has stated she deserves the highest US civilian honor for the ordeal she endured on set.

The reason was a candid interview in which the actress spoke about the physical challenges of returning to the role of the legendary magazine editor.

'16 Weeks on Heels'

In a conversation with Vogue, Streep admitted that stepping back into the shoes of Miranda Priestly proved far tougher than expected.

According to the actress, the main issue wasn't the emotional demands or the long gap between films, but the footwear:

'16 weeks on heels. I have almost PTSD. I think for such suffering, I deserve the Medal of Freedom,' Streep remarked humorously.

With this, the star was alluding to the Presidential Medal of Freedom—one of the nation's highest civilian awards.

The Atmosphere on Set Changed

Interestingly, the filming process this time around was quite different from working on the original 'The Devil Wears Prada.' Back then, Meryl Streep consciously kept her distance from colleagues, employing elements of Konstantin Stanislavski's system to maintain her character's cold and imperious image.

For the second film, the actress allowed herself much more freedom: she joked frequently, socialized with the crew, greeted fans, and immediately changed into comfortable shoes between takes.

Reputation as the Ideal Colleague

Colleagues unanimously note that Streep remains one of the most pleasant and professional acting partners to work with—which is particularly ironic given Miranda Priestly's icy on-screen persona.

The premiere of 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' is scheduled for May 1, 2026. The White House has yet to comment on the actress's playful claims to a state honor.
