'Tell Me Lies' to End with Third Season
Story of Destructive Relationships Will Not Continue
One of the most talked-about dramas of recent years is officially coming to an end. Meghan Oppenheimer, the creator of the series 'Tell Me Lies', announced on social media that the third season will be the final one, and the episode airing on Hulu on Monday, February 16, 2026, will bring the story to a close.
According to the showrunner, this decision was made in advance and came as no surprise to the creative team.
"After three incredible seasons, today's episode will be the finale of the series. This is exactly the ending that my writers' room and I had in our heads from the start, and we are incredibly proud of the result," Oppenheimer wrote.
She also admitted that the creators seriously discussed the possibility of a continuation due to the audience's strong attachment to the characters, but ultimately chose the artistic integrity of the project.
"My main goal was always to protect the quality of the show. It's bittersweet to say goodbye to this world, but I am grateful for the opportunity to tell a complete story with a meaningful ending—a privilege that few series get."
From Novel to Screen
The series is based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Carola Lovering. The adaptation debuted in the fall of 2022 and almost immediately captured the audience's attention due to its harsh and honest look at toxic relationships, emotional manipulation, and psychological dependence.
The story revolved around a group of college students, with the narrative unfolding across two timelines: during the characters' college years (2008–2010) and in 2015, when key characters cross paths again at a wedding, gradually revealing the consequences of their past decisions.
Cast and Popularity
The lead roles in the project were played by Grace Van Patten and Jackson White. The series also starred Benjamin Wadsworth, Spencer House, Tom Ellis, and others.
The project regularly sparked intense discussions on social media and in industry media: viewers noted the realism of the events and the painfully recognizable situations, while critics praised the series for refusing to romanticize abusive relationships.
Why the Series Was Concluded
Despite sustained audience interest, the team decided not to artificially stretch the plot. Oppenheimer emphasizes that the story was conceived from the very beginning as a limited narrative with a clearly defined endpoint.
Thus, 'Tell Me Lies' joins the ranks of the rare series that have managed to conclude according to the creators' plan, rather than due to declining ratings or cancellation by the platform.
The final episode of the third season will mark the last time audiences meet the characters—and, as promised by the creators, will strike all the right emotional and narrative chords.
