Doug Liman to Direct Film About Bitcoin's Creator Using AI Technology
Casey Affleck and Pete Davidson to Star in 'Killing Satoshi'
Director Doug Liman, known for the blockbuster 'Edge of Tomorrow', is beginning work on a new project—the film 'Killing Satoshi', dedicated to the mysterious creator of Bitcoin. According to Variety, the film will be technologically unique: all scenes will be created using AI-generated backgrounds, with no location shooting.
Artificial Intelligence in Production
According to producer Ryan Kavanaugh, AI is not replacing actors but serves as a tool to increase production efficiency. The technology will allow for the creation of virtual sets and, if necessary, adjustments to actors' performances—lip movements, facial expressions, and body postures. This, according to the producer, will "reduce the need for reshoots" and help optimize the project's budget and timeline.
The lead roles will be played by Casey Affleck and Pete Davidson. Filming is set to begin in the UK in late February and continue through March 2026.
About Satoshi Nakamoto
Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, remains one of the most enigmatic figures in the modern economy. Since the cryptocurrency's emergence in 2009, their identity has remained unknown. For some, Nakamoto is a symbol of technological freedom and financial independence; for others, a threat to governments and institutions.
Analysts estimate that in the early years, Nakamoto mined about one million Bitcoins—a fortune that today amounts to approximately $64 billion. If Satoshi Nakamoto is still alive, they rank among the wealthiest people on the planet.
Project Prospects
The use of AI in 'Killing Satoshi' is seen as an experiment that could set new standards for the industry. Experts predict the project will spark discussions not only about technological possibilities but also about ethical questions: to what extent is AI intervention in actors' performances and the creation of virtual worlds without location shooting acceptable?
