Filming Begins on Season 2 of *The Chosen*

Filming has begun on Season 2 of the comedy series The Chosen. The project is once again being produced by the Okko platform and MEM Cinema Production, continuing a story where politics is closely intertwined with science and the personal lives of its characters.

A new chapter for Oleg Tyapin
In the second season, the main character Oleg Tyapin, played by Ilya Lykov, has firmly established himself as a State Duma deputy. However, despite his outward success, he feels unfulfilled in his political career and longs to return to scientific work.

The aerospace plant built in Glebovo was meant to symbolize a technological breakthrough, but its launch has been delayed. The main issue is a severe shortage of qualified specialists, which becomes one of the central conflicts of the season.

System vs. reality
Tyapin faces a systemic crisis: industry is advancing faster than the education system can train professionals. Many scientists are moving into the private sector or leaving their fields altogether, while young specialists increasingly relocate abroad in search of better opportunities.

His attempts to draw attention to the issue among fellow politicians fall flat. In the midst of an election race, deputies are more focused on ratings and public image than on real reforms. This deepens Tyapin’s internal conflict and pushes him toward more radical decisions.

A political party as a challenge to the system
Realizing he cannot change the situation alone, Tyapin decides to launch his own political party called “Knowledge is Power,” aimed at protecting the interests of the scientific community and advancing education.

In practice, however, the effort proves far more difficult: bureaucracy, lack of resources, pressure from rivals, and the challenge of building a team turn the idea into a serious test. This storyline introduces elements of political satire and adds greater dramatic weight to the series.

Personal struggles and a new antagonist
Alongside professional challenges, Tyapin must deal with complications in his personal life. His partner Inga, played by Olga Lerman, sees the return of her ex-husband — and the father of her daughter Mila.

This character becomes not only a personal rival but also an ideological opponent. He is involved in recruiting young Russian scientists to work abroad, directly contributing to the very issue Tyapin is trying to solve.

What to expect from Season 2
Season 2 of The Chosen promises to be bigger and more layered. The creators are expanding both the political and personal storylines, focusing on timely themes such as brain drain and the clash between ideals and reality.

Viewers can expect a mix of satire, social drama, and situational comedy, as the protagonist continues to search for a balance between his beliefs, the limits of the system, and his personal happiness.
