Filming for Ronin Season 3 Has Wrapped

The popular TV-3 series Ronin continues to expand its scope, as filming for Season 3 has officially wrapped.

The new episodes were shot in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad region, featuring both urban scenes and key сюжетные developments tied to the characters’ pasts.

A new chapter in the story
Season 3 will continue the story of Ivan Doronin, played by Dmitry Palamarchuk. Lyuba Bakhankova and Alexander Dyakonov also return, with their characters remaining central to the family and emotional arcs of the series.

The creators continue to balance detective storytelling with character development — a combination that has been key to the show’s popularity.

New setting and atmosphere
One of the major changes in the new season is a shift in location to Karelia. In the story, Doronin moves with his family to a remote village called Kiita, seeking a quieter life away from civilization.

He takes on the role of head of a local nature reserve, hoping to leave his past behind. However, as in previous seasons, peace proves short-lived.

A mystery with historical roots
The central plot revolves around a mysterious foreign visitor. A Norwegian collector arrives in Karelia in search of a rare triptych believed to conceal a map to Viking treasure.

This storyline introduces elements of historical mystery and adventure. Against the backdrop of ancient legends, a series of modern-day robberies disrupts the calm of the region.

Doronin is once again forced to embrace his nature as a ronin — a lone figure navigating danger and solving complex cases.

Nature as a character
Directors Igor Draka and Anatoly Semyonov emphasize the importance of the visual aspect. The northern landscapes of Karelia will play a major role, becoming an integral part of the storytelling.

Audiences can expect sweeping scenery, a sense of isolation, and an undercurrent of tension that enhances the drama.

Project development
Ronin has firmly established itself in TV-3’s lineup. The first season premiered in January 2025 and quickly gained attention, while the second season in autumn further strengthened its success.
