Sony is preparing a new film in the “Men in Black” franchise.
The franchise, long beloved by fans of sci-fi and comedy, is set to continue thanks to the work of screenwriter Chris Bremner.
After successfully reviving the Bad Boys series, Sony Pictures now intends to breathe new life into another iconic property — Men in Black. The studio has confirmed its collaboration with Bremner, known for Bad Boys for Life (2020) and Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024), who will be writing the script for the new instalment. For now, there is no information about casting, and Sony has not issued any official comments.
Will Agent J Return?
Although the plot remains tightly under wraps, sources claim that Will Smith — the star of the original trilogy — will be the first to read the completed script. The studio hopes he will agree to return as Agent J. Whether his involvement will be a leading role or a smaller cameo-style “passing of the torch” is still unclear. However, Smith’s character will already be included in the script’s very first draft. At this stage, the actor has made no commitments and will decide only after reviewing the screenplay.
A Screenwriter With Proven Success
Chris Bremner has an impressive track record: the last two Bad Boys films collectively earned USD 837.1 million. His collaboration with Will Smith also extends beyond this franchise — Bremner recently wrote the script for the Netflix action film Fast and Loose, another major project for the actor.
A Promising Return
The revival of Men in Black promises to be a major event for fans and could mark the beginning of a new chapter in the story of the iconic agents who face mysterious extraterrestrial threats.
