*Hotel Transylvania 5* Gets Official Release Date
Sony Pictures Animation and Amazon MGM Studios have officially confirmed that a fifth instalment in the popular Hotel Transylvania franchise is in production, while also announcing its theatrical release date.
After several years away from the big screen, Count Dracula and his family are set to return in Hotel Transylvania 5: Ghost of the Hotel, which is scheduled for a worldwide release on October 8, 2027. The film is being co-produced by Sony Pictures Animation and Amazon MGM Studios, continuing the partnership established after the previous instalment.
Dracula Faces a New Supernatural Mystery
Plot details remain under wraps, but the filmmakers have revealed the basic premise.
Following the events of the previous films, Count Dracula has officially retired and handed over management of the famous hotel to his daughter, Mavis. Just as life at the legendary monster resort appears to have settled into a peaceful routine, a series of strange and unsettling events begins to unfold.
The beloved characters must uncover the truth behind the mysterious incidents and solve what is being described as the hotel's greatest mystery yet. As the title suggests, a mysterious ghost is expected to play a central role in the story, disrupting the monsters' peaceful lives.
A Familiar Creative Team Returns
The fifth film will be directed by Jennifer Kluska, who previously co-directed the fourth instalment, alongside Alan Hawkins, a longtime contributor to the franchise.
Laurence Jonas will serve as producer, while franchise creator Genndy Tartakovsky and Michelle Murdocca return as executive producers.
Sony Pictures will handle theatrical distribution across North America and selected international territories, while Amazon MGM Studios will oversee releases in major overseas markets.
One of Sony's Most Successful Animated Franchises
The original Hotel Transylvania premiered in 2012 and became a major commercial success, earning approximately $355 million worldwide. Its sequels proved even more successful, with the second film grossing around $475 million globally and the third surpassing $530 million.
The only exception was Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sony cancelled its theatrical release and sold exclusive distribution rights to Prime Video. That agreement ultimately paved the way for Amazon MGM Studios to become a full production partner on the fifth film.
With Hotel Transylvania 5, the studios hope to bring the franchise back to cinemas and once again attract the family audiences who have followed Dracula and his lovable monsters for more than a decade.
