WWE Superstar Braun Strowman Hints at Playing Kratos in Amazon's God of War Series

Amazon may be considering former WWE Champion Braun Strowman as a replacement for Ryan Hurst after the actor reportedly suffered a serious biceps injury that has jeopardised production on the upcoming God of War television series.

The adaptation of the iconic PlayStation franchise has reportedly hit an unexpected obstacle, prompting both Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television to explore potential replacements for Kratos, one of gaming's most recognisable protagonists.

Braun Strowman Emerges as a Rumoured Candidate

Speculation intensified after Strowman shared a photo on social media showing an Amazon Studios visitor pass while carefully concealing any information that could reveal the purpose of his visit.

The post surfaced shortly after reports of Hurst's injury, leading fans to connect the two developments. Strowman had also previously teased involvement in a major upcoming project, further fuelling rumours that he could be linked to the God of War adaptation.

Neither Amazon nor Sony has officially commented on the speculation, and it remains unclear whether the former WWE star has auditioned for the role or simply met with studio executives.

Production Faces a Major Challenge

Amazon's God of War series is one of the company's most ambitious video game adaptations. Based on the acclaimed PlayStation franchise, the story follows Kratos, the former Spartan warrior who, after the events of Greek mythology, finds himself confronting the gods and creatures of Norse mythology alongside his son.

The production's immediate challenge is determining how to handle footage that has already been completed. According to reports, filming has already wrapped on four episodes.

Strowman's Physical Presence Fits the Character

One of Braun Strowman's biggest advantages is his imposing physique. Standing approximately 203 cm (6 ft 8 in) tall and weighing over 150 kg (330 lbs), he closely matches the intimidating physical presence associated with Kratos.

During his WWE career, Strowman built a reputation as an unstoppable powerhouse and has also gained experience through television appearances and film cameos.

However, portraying Kratos requires far more than physical strength. The character is defined not only by his brutality and rage but also by profound emotional depth, carrying a story of guilt, loss and redemption that demands a nuanced dramatic performance.
